This presentation summarizes the impact of risk management on the stages of buildings' construction in general and the planning standards in the urban environment. Particular focus is on the safe and proper site planning, risk management and meeting all the needs of its users looking at the design of the building as an integral part of the urban planning system. The flexibility of building uses, daily, seasonal or emergent activities as the basis of the safety and integrity of the building and its visitors.
Highlighting the importance and effect of integrating urban planning and design of buildings and the impact from the absence of risk management. The idea of this study highlights this effect on the standards of urban planning in majorly crowded areas that require a diversity of knowledge and science to achieve a clear vision and risk management during the stages of urban planning to meet the requirements for the safe design of buildings. This problem has been reviewed and treated in two ways: first, analyzing the opinions of respondents of the emergency cases on the obstacles to dealing with emergencies from the aspects of urban planning of crowded areas. Second: creating a simulation for the evacuation plan in the presence and absence of urban planning standards and linking them. After that, creating a number of scenarios that simulate evacuation with results that prove the possibility of lowering the risk ratios in the urban environment.
This presentation will discuss the US Military Regulations and their relation to Foreign Building Codes and Standards in particular the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-600-01 “Fire Protection Engineering for Facilities” as they relate to fire and life safety for Foreign Military construction.
This presentation will discuss the evolution of the Saudi Building Code (SBC) provide updates regarding to the fire protection and life safety provisions. In particular, the presentation will examine major differences between the GCC Code, NFPA, and SBC provisions for various elements of fire and life safety, including means of egress, compartmentation, smoke management, fire service access to high rise buildings, and facades and cladding systems.
Designs are often driven to satisfy code requirements or to obtain approval. This may not meet operator or end user-requirements. This presentation discusses how to adopt a holistic fire safety design with emphasis on integrating operational and end-user requirements into the fire strategy design process. New operational facilities involve complex interactions of people, process, technology and environment - the presenter gives an outline of the technology that can facilitate a greater level of fire safety awareness and implementation. The presentation will showcase new technologies available to support operators in managing fire safety in their buildings that can be considered during the design process.
